In addition to a remarkable and talented group of people at the senior management level, Resource Energy Solutions is very proud to have established a truly magnificent Board of Advisors that believes in RES’ potential and guides it as it progresses towards its goals. 

Trent Marx – President & CEO

Trent is proud to oversee the operations of a company that garners respect throughout the global oil and gas market. Since taking over the firm in 2004, Trent has leveraged his technical knowledge, superior client service skills, and industry experience to ensure that the reputation of Resource Energy Solutions continues to shine. In combination with the efforts of his outstanding team, Trent directs all new product development to produce leading-edge daily project activity, cost, and budget-management software. His tech-savvy approach and years spent managing client relationships in the oil and gas industry result in innovative, meaningful products.

The foundation for Trent’s success is built upon 18 years experience in procurement/supply chain management; employment with CAE and SNC-Lavalin as a Procurement Specialist and Managing Contractor; significant leadership training; as well as extensive hands-on experience with IT and software utilization. His appreciation for putting in an honest day’s work stems from the years he spent working on his family’s farm (he still helps out with the harvest each year).

Trent understands the importance of familiar software solutions and workflow integration. He recognizes the difficulties that companies face when using multiple reporting systems with aging technologies. As a business leader with a mechanical engineering background, Trent addresses this need by producing high-caliber, extremely functional, data management tools. He is fueled by results and driven to ensure that Wellman continues to be the most user-friendly well-reporting software in the industry.

A passionate visionary, Trent enjoys sharing his knowledge and fostering skill development. Apart from setting growth strategies and guiding RES’ daily operations, Trent spends his time giving back to the community. He is an active Board Member for ACG Calgary as well as Director of the Airdrie Oilmen’s Association. In addition, Trent is proud to be Calgary’s business representative sitting on the steering committee for The City of Calgary’s IT Transformation Guiding Coalition.

Trent is highly regarded for his poised ability to perform as a natural leader. His vision, commitment, and belief in ‘empowering information’ have realized dramatic growth for RES and continue to pave the way for future market expansion.

Brian McNeill - Chief Financial Officer

Brian McNeill brings a wealth of financial knowledge to RES and has experience in growing and selling software companies while keeping a 50% EBITDA. He also has experience in Controller and Treasury duties, economic strategy and forecasting, and software operations.

 

In addition to financial experience, Mr. McNeill brings 30 years of experience in all aspects of technology company operations for both public and private companies. His international experience was gained while holding VP positions, as well as CTO, and COO positions for private and public companies in Great Briton, the U.S.A. and Canada. This well rounded international background anchors RES as a major international player.

 

As a member of various board and advisory panels Mr. McNeill contributed to the growth of many companies and projects winning several awards and accolades in the process. Software products designed by Mr. McNeill won ‘Product of the Year’ by CRN and companies that were headed by Mr. McNeill won fastest growth company in Alberta and placed in the top ‘Fastest 50’ companies in Canada. 

Peter Swoboda - Operations Manager

Peter Swoboda adds tremendous value with his experience in operations efficiency, Project and Quality Management, including work at General Dynamics as Director of Operations, Black and Decker Product line Operations Manager, and Novatel Operations Manager.
